Quite brilliant. Printed out and underlined to the delight of my left hemisphere. My right hemisphere is smiling warmly, bathing in the gestalt. Thank you.
Great essay! This is a gem: “It is better solved at the level of the higher-order patterns – if you are “low” on dopamine, you “know” that you’re not doing things that really matter to you.” And your comments on emergence and why it makes sense to refer to patterns as a whole, e.g. “Steve” and “God” are wonderful and insightful. Very sorry about your brother.
Yes. Ironically, the essay itself is very left-brain. But I hoped it would give people a reason to "let go" into the pattern of their life, even a little.
Thanks for reading, Chris. Appreciate the kind words very much.
"We don’t need a dopamine fast; we need a fucking meaningful life." - : )
Thanks for reading, Rick :)
This is quotable to me, also! Written down & posted visibly. Thanks for such thought provoking writings.
